The costs of everyday healthcare, such as dental check-ups, a visit to the opticians, or buying prescription medicines, are ever increasing, and can all add up. A Cash Plan is designed to help individuals meet these costs and to manage these costs when health issues arise.

The University is pleased to introduce a new employee benefit to help you budget towards your everyday healthcare costs.

With effect from 1st April 2024, we are working in partnership with Medicare to offer all staff a healthcare cash plan scheme, which is designed to help cover your day-to-day healthcare costs and offers 100% cash back (up to policy limits) for a variety of different medical treatments including:

  • dental check-ups, X-Rays, and hygienist fees
  • eye tests, spectacles, and contact lenses
  • medical prescriptions
  • complementary therapies such as physiotherapy and acupuncture
  • health screenings
  • a stay in hospital by you or your child.

All premiums will be taken via monthly payroll deductions.

Benefits of taking out a Cash Plan

Some of the benefits include:

  • help to budget for everyday health care expenses
  • low monthly premium – paid via payroll deduction
  • choice to cover the whole family for added peace of mind
  • choice of the healthcare practitioner that you want to see, plus there is no need for a GP referral
  • cover for pre-existing medical conditions
  • access to a range of benefits such as medical helplines and 24/7 GP access
  • enhanced levels of cover.

Please take a look at the benefits table to find out what's covered under the plan.
