Borrow tech for longer
We launched the digital equality fund to support those most in need access long loans of laptops, noise-cancelling headphones and wi-fi enabled dongles
More access to power
You have more plug sockets and USB charging units around campus and new PCs and device charging lockers in the Library to help you stay connected.
Study any time
Your Library Study Hub is open all the time and has new furniture, a new Assistive Technology Room and a cashless vending machine to help you whenever you want to study
More study spaces and longer opening hours in the Library
You now have 300 spaces and a silent room with new furniture for you to study in. You can visit both libraries and the Study Hub any time of day or night in the run up to and during the exam periods so you can study and revise whenever you like. In term time, the Main Library is now open until midnight seven days a week. The Study Hub is open 24/7, 365 days a year.
More time to borrow a book
You now have longer to loan a book before you need to return it.
More suitable times to get help in the Library
You now have more drop-in study support sessions in the Library at times that suit you as well as access to more ebooks and resources
Staggered deadlines for your course work
Your coursework deadlines are more spread out now to help you better manage your time.
Cheaper printing costs
It is now cheaper for you to get your coursework and dissertations printed on campus.
Involvement in the annual Festival of Learning and Technology
More students are involved now in the annual Festival of Learning and Teaching, so you can share your experiences and lead sessions alongside external speakers and staff.
Additional personal development support for some student
BAME students can apply to join the Be Smart three-part programme offering 1:1 mentoring, leadership and professionalism and a paid internship. And our Get Set to Success programme is available for those who may be the first generation to go to university and now offers peer to peer student mentoring for longer
Improved resources in Health Sciences and Education
You now have new textbooks, new skeletons, and a range of bone models to complement the books in the new Naylor Library which has 270 study spaces and Education books, classroom resources and an onsite cafe
IT Support
In the library you will find our new self help kiosks, here you can reset your password top up your printer credit and much more 24 hours a day including weekends.
If you need to visit us for help IT support is available from 8:30 to 5:30 Monday to Friday (not including bank holidays) in H1 at the front of the library. Please visit the IT services help desk where we will be happy to help.
You can always submit your issues to us via The Hub Online where a member of our service desk will happily help you.
More careers support
New employability days and fairs have been introduced. These are a great opportunity for you to meet local employers and learn about full-time graduate level work, part-time jobs, work experience, internships, summer internships and volunteering opportunities.
