The University has a campus-wide CCTV Scheme in operation with in excess of 125 cameras throughout the site. This is manned 24 hours a day by in-house staff within the Security Control Room.
Due to the Data Protection Act and strict guidelines, access to the Security Control Room is restricted to key personnel only.
The primary aims of the system are:
- to assist in safeguarding the welfare of staff, students and visitors to the campus
- to provide a safer environment for vehicle parking
- to provide improved security of University property
- to assist in the prevention, deterrence and detection of crime
The CCTV system is governed by a strict code of practice which takes into account the Data Protection Act 1998 and Human Rights Act 1998. Any enquiries regarding the CCTV system should be directed to the Security Operations Manager
