St Mary’s is fully committed to promoting equality of opportunity and creating an inclusive culture for trans and non-binary members of staff, while providing a positive work environment free from discrimination. This commitment is supported by our values of respect, inclusiveness, excellence, and generosity of spirit.
To help live out this commitment, we have worked with the Staff LGBTQ+ Network to publish St Mary’s first Staff Transgender and Non-Binary Equality Policy.
Key aims of this policy include:
- setting out how the University will ensure an inclusive culture that both welcomes and supports trans and non-binary staff, and ensures staff are treated with dignity and respect
- outlining support, guidance, and good practice for line managers of trans and non-binary staff, including a Transition Support Checklist for Staff
- fostering positive relations amongst transgender staff and the broader University community.
