St Mary’s University School of Education is delighted to offer a short course for those intending to work towards and complete a GCSE equivalency in mathematics.
This short course will be delivered by Nic Tierney, Senior Lecturer in mathematics education, and is designed to offer structured support and subject knowledge input to prepare attendees to take their mathematics GCSE equivalency test. This short course is carefully designed to offer individuals the opportunity to successfully meet the standards required for GCSE mathematics while also building confidence in this curriculum area.
This short course is comprised of both the series of taught sessions and the GCSE equivalency assessment.

This course will be delivered through a sequence of taught sessions, which take place on:
- Saturday 10th May 10.00am-2.00pm (St Mary's University)
- Thursday 15th May 5.30-7.30pm (online)
- Thursday 22nd May 5.30-7.30pm (online)
- Thursday 29th May 5.30-7.30pm (online)
- Thursday 5th June 5.30-7.30pm (online)
- Thursday 12th June 5.30-7.30pm (online)
- Thursday 19th June 5.30-7.30pm (online).
The GCSE equivalency assessment will take place at St Mary's University and dates of the test will be shared when the course commmences.
Location
The course is delivered both in person at St Mary's University and online in twilight sessions.

The full course cost is £200.
Content
This course will cover key concepts in mathematics in order to prepare students for their GCSE equivalency test. Through completing this short course, you will:
- develop knowledge and understanding of the mathematics GCSE curriculum
- build confidence in your application of mathematical knowledge to solve problems with accuracy and fluency
- increase your ability to respond to a range of mathematical assessment questions.

To enrol on this short course, you must be seeking the opportunity to achieve a GCSE equivalency in mathematics.
Award
Upon the successful completion of this short course and assessment, you will be awarded a GCSE equivalency in mathematics. Please be aware that this a St Mary's maths foundation level equivalency test and is only valid for courses studied with us.
