Read some testimonials from students who have previously won the Awards.

student ambassador of the year, 2023 - anika sharma - “If I won this award, It would just end my journey at St Mary's perfectly! To be able to be recognised for the little and big things you do for someone is such a beautiful feeling. I always give my 100% in everything I do, and I feel really proud of myself to celebrate it among my friends and colleagues. These nominations alone have given me so much happiness so imagine if I actually won one of these awards. It is wonderful to be appreciated by your peers.”

commuter of the year, 2023 - jakub thomas - “Winning this award would make me very happy, as it would reflect my colleagues’ appreciation for the countless car lifts that I have given to them over the past academic year without asking for anything in return. I try to make an effort to help people wherever I can, which is my main motivation for going out of my way to make other students’ commutes easier and more enjoyable.”

Outstanding Commitment to Peer Support, 2023 - Ro Winchester - “If I won this award, it would be a reflection on all the work I have done over the last few years. Helping to support my fellow actors. Keeping rehearsals rooms and productions safe and having healthy communication at the centre.”

digital champion of the year, 2023 - caleb mutombwa - “If I win this award this would mean that a decision I took years back to come to London and study MA Sports Journalism is paying off. It would also prove the support of my family here in Essex.”

Judges’ Choice Award, 2023 - isha chaudry-parveen - “Thank you so much for this nomination, knowing that others value my support alone means a lot. Over the 3 years I have spent at SMU, I have had the chance to do so much towards ensuring everyone is happy, whether it was through my role as a Student Ambassador or a role through the Students Union, I did my best to use my position to help others. Regardless of the many obstacles that came up, what I have come to learn is that inside any challenge that you may face in life, there is an opportunity that you need to find. Congratulations to all my fellow nominees and thank you SMU for the wonderful experience.”
