FAQs
If you apply for university accommodation during clearing, we will do our best to accommodate and have a small guarantee in place, once that expires, room offers will be subject to availability. If we are not able to offer a place in university accommodation before the start of term, the accommodation team will reach out to the applicant with assistance in finding other suitable temporary or permanent accommodation.
Once you have a confirmed offer of study with St Marys, you will be directed to the accommodation e-portal to apply. You can also access the portal from the St Mary’s accommodation website. Please note that you will need to wait up to 24 hours after accepting your offer to study at St Mary’s for your details to appear on the accommodation system. Please note that you must apply by midday on August 22nd, 2024.
Clearing applicants are being offered a limited guarantee under specific conditions. This guarantee extends to those who have accepted an offer to study through clearing and have applied for accommodation on or before 22nd August 2024.
University accommodation for undergraduate students is primarily based on the Strawberry Hill Campus and we ask applicants to put all options in order of preference on the application. As part of our University accommodation offering, we may also make referrals to private accommodation providers, this can include private halls of residence or private landlords local to St Mary’s.
We will take listed preferences into consideration during allocation, however we do not guarantee an offer within any preferred type of accommodation. Allocations will be made in accordance to our our Allocation Policy, which is available to view on the accommodation website.
If you are no longer starting University for the 2024/25 academic year, your current accommodation application will be cancelled. You should email St Mary’s accommodation team to confirm your deferral at accommodation@stmarys.ac.uk. A new application should then be submitted in Spring 2025.
Once you have received your accommodation offer, you will need to return to the online accommodation portal within 3 days to complete the acceptance process, which includes payment of a £300 deposit at time of acceptance.
We are not able to make alternative room offers. If you accept the offer provided to you, there may be the opportunity to apply for a room transfer to different accommodation later in the year, dependent on availability.
If you decline your offer of accommodation, you can request to be placed on our waiting list. However, you may not receive a further room offer before the start of the academic year.
The accommodation waiting list will run throughout the first semester. We will continue to make offers to individuals on the waiting list as availability allows.
If you have a medical condition or specific circumstances that impact your accommodation needs, after applying you must make an appointment with a disability advisor to discuss requirements before we will take special requests into consideration. We will not consider requests for special circumstances without supporting evidence. To arrange an appointment, please email wellbeing@stmarys.ac.uk. We cannot guarantee an offer in a specific room or hall, but the accommodation team will discuss what available rooms may support your needs.
