Providing opportunities for students, and advice and support for the community.
Through our Business and Law Clinic activities, we provide a range of opportunities for students to gain real-life experience, working with businesses, industry professionals, and the community. In doing so, we support start-ups, small businesses, and charities with advice on financing, marketing, and growing their organisation, and more. We also work closely with local Councils and voluntary sector organisations to provide access to justice, and legal support and advice, for those who are most in need.
Examples activities include:
- Delivering drop-in sessions and workshops to support businesses at Patch Twickenham – the community-focused enterprise and innovation hub
- Student rotations at the One Stop Shop in Hampton Hill Citizen's Advice Bureau, shadowing legal professionals
- Student internships at the Disability Benefits Clinic, with training from the Citizen's Advice Bureau
- Partnership with Support Through Court, with student placements to provide support to individuals attending civil and family court at the Royal Courts of Justice
- Amicus project – students work on cases with Amicus, who provide access to justice for those facing the death penalty in the US.
After a successful round of sessions led by senior business professionals at the university, St Mary’s University Business Clinic is delighted to announce a new series of events taking place at Patch Neighbourhood Business Space, Twickenham, starting in September. These will cover several essential start-up related business themes to develop and enhance SMEs. These themes include:
- customer insight
- finance
- digital marketing/transformation.
