How to apply via UCAS

Before you begin the process of applying, be sure to check the UCAS website for up-to-date application deadlines. If you have missed the January deadline, you can still apply through UCAS, and we are happy to consider late applications, and applications through Clearing.

1. Find a course

You are able to select up to five courses on your application. Your five choices can be to different universities, but you are also able to apply for more than one course at the same institution.

Use our course search to find which courses you’d like to apply for.

2. Register on UCAS

You’ll need to register an account on UCAS, and complete their application pages using the UCAS codes on our course pages.

Our UCAS code is SMARYS64.

3. Write a personal statement

You’ll need to write a personal statement to support your application, which will be an opportunity to tell us why you want to study your chosen course.

Use our personal statement generator to help you complete your personal statement.

4. Submit your application

Once you’ve completed your application, you can submit it. Please note that UCAS charges a small fee for applications.

Your next steps

There are two types of offer you can receive from us.

  • Conditional: your offer depends on you achieving your predicted grades, or provided further information.
  • Unconditional: you have already met the course requirements and your place is confirmed.

Once you have received decisions from all the universities or colleges you have applied to, you can decide which offers you would like to accept. Most people choose a ‘firm’ (first) choice and an ‘insurance’ (second) choice.

If you meet the conditions of your offer, you will automatically be accepted onto your course.

It is required that everyone working with children and vulnerable adults in England and Wales obtains a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

We require all teacher trainees to complete an enhanced DBS check.

Once you have accepted your place to study at St Mary’s we will send you an activation email to begin your DBS application via GBG Online Disclosures.
