Uniservitate Programme
St Mary’s University has joined a consortium of Catholic Universities through the Uniservitate Programme.
The programme provides assistance through training workshops and regional and global meetings. It aims to encourage service-learning in Catholic Higher Education Institutions as a tool to fulfil their mission of an integral education, and to engage agents for social change as promoters of a better society according to the social teaching of the Catholic Church.
St Mary’s has been placed in the ‘Western Europe South’ regional network coordinated by the University of Deusto and alongside the Catholic University of Portugal – Lisbon and the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan (more popularly known as Cattolica).
A small number of St Mary’s staff have actively participated in the Uniservitate training sessions in 2021. We hope to develop a service-learning strategy for the whole university, so that students can integrate service to the community with the learning outcomes of their degree programme.
