Event: 5000m and 10,000m

Mo Farah was the first endurance performance athlete when the programme started in 2001 and has since become its most famous alumnus.  For nearly a decade Mo lived, trained and was coached by Alan Storey out of St Mary’s before moving to the US. With his stunning four Gold medals, two at London 2012 and two at Rio 2016, and as double World Champion, Mo has established himself as the best British distance runner ever.

“The University and the London Marathon supported me in my transition to world class distance running and provided a level of help that I had not received before then and I still appreciate it. I go back there to train whenever I am in the UK.”

Event: 1500m, 5000m, cross country

Steph became the youngest member of the World Cross Country team in 2005. She went on to become three times European Junior Cross Country Champion - and also developed a passion for running fast on the track. Steph became the World Junior 1500m Champion in 2008, before going on to become an Olympic competitor on her 19th birthday, representing Team GB in the 1500m at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. After taking a few years to recover from a near career ending ankle injury, Steph competed at the 2016 World Indoor Championships held in Portland, Oregon, finishing 6th in the 3,000m final. She continued her fine form into 2016 by coming away with a superb Silver medal at the European Championships in Amsterdam. Steph capped off her 2016 season by competing for Great Britain in the 5000m at the Rio Olympic Games.

Event: 800m 

Andrew earned his first senior GB vest in 2010 when he was selected to compete in the 800m at the World Indoor Championships in Doha, Qatar. Prior to this he became UK Indoor 800m Champion and confirmed his selection with 3rd place at the Birmingham Grand Prix in a time of 1:47.71. Andrew competed for Team GB at the London 2012 Olympics, reaching the 800m final. His Olympic final time placed him 4th on the British All-Time list for the 800m in 1:43.77.

Event: Marathon

Charlotte gained selections for the Paris Olympics in 2024 after a stunning run at the Berlin Marathon running 2:22:17. She is currently ranked 3rd fastest British Marathoner of all-time and 7th fastest British Half Marathoner of all time as well. In 2022 she represented Team GB over the marathon distance at the Eugene Oregon World Championships. As a student she represented Great Britain in cross-country where she earned numerous medals as a Junior. She has also competed in the Commonwealth Games and European Champs and World Champs over a multitude of distances throughout her career.

Event: 5000m, 10,000m, cross country 

Andy had a successful winter season retaining his BUCS Cross Country title and leading St Mary’s in the defence of their team title. He also became English National Cross Country Champion in Leeds and took the 3000m title in the UK Indoor Championships in Sheffield. Andy was part of the GB team that won Silver medals at the European Cross Country Championships in Dublin 2009. Andy represented GB at the European Championships in Zurich, Switzerland in 2014 running both the 5,000m & 10,000m. Andy was able to show his championship racing ability, coming away with an impressive silver medal in the 10,000m final, just behind Mo Farah, and a bronze medal in the 5,000m only four days later. Andy became an Olympian in 2016, competing in the 10,000m final at the Rio Olympic Games. 

Adelle Tracey

Event: 800m & 1500m

Adelle has had a fantastic career since being a student at St Mary’s. Whilst a student she represented Team GB over various major championships in the 800m. Since switching her allegiance to Jamaica Adelle had much success in 2022 and 2023 competing at the Eugene Oregon World Championships and the Budapest World Championships where she came 7th in the 800m running a new PB of 1:58.41. In the 1500m she ran 3:58.77 setting a new national Jamaican Record.

Charlie Grice

Event: 1500m

Charlie has stamped his mark as being one of Great Britain’s top 1500m runners, having run a time of 3:35.29. Charlie represented England in what was his first major senior championship, the 2014 Commonwealth Game in Glasgow, where he finished in 7th in the 1500m final. Just two weeks later he represented Great Britain at the European Outdoor Championships in Zurich, Switzerland. At the 2015 World Championships in Beijing Charlie had a fantastic championship making it through the 1500m rounds to final where he finished 9th in 3:36.21. In 2016 he became a back to back British Indoor 1500m Champion and went on to represent GB at the World Indoor Championships in Portland, Oregon. Charlie started his 2016 outdoor season in style by running a new mile personal best of 3:52.64 at the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League. He then became a three-time British Senior 1500m Outdoor Champion, winning the 2016 Championships, automatically selecting him for the Rio Olympic Games. Charlie set new lifetime bests in the 1500m of 3:33.60 and the 800m of 1:45.53 and made the final of the 1500m at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. 

Beth Potter

Event: 10,000m & Triatholon

Beth Potter left her running career in 2016 and transitioned to the triathlon where she has had great success. She was selected for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after winning the Paris Test event in August 2023. She has also gone on to become World Triathlon Champion and Supertri E World Triathlon Champion. Whilst a member of the EPC at St Mary’s Beth was selected to represent Team GB in the 10,000m at the Rio Olympic Games in 2016. 

Emile Cairess

Event: Marathon & Cross-country

Emile is currently the European Record holder for 10 miles on the road with a time of 45:57 minutes. He is the 2nd fastest British Marathoner and 3rd fastest British Half Marathoner of all-time. In 2024, he gained selection to compete in the Marathon at the Paris Olympic Games after finishing 3rd overall with a time of 2:06:46 in the London Marathon. Whilst a student at St Mary’s Emile represented Great Britain numerous times in cross-country as well as achieving Bronze in the 10,000m at European U23 Championships in 2019. 

Elliot Giles

Event: 800m & 1500m

Elliot Giles secured selection for Team GB in the 800m at the Rio Olympic Games in 2016 whilst a student athlete at St Mary’s. That year he also earned Bronze at the European Championships. From 2016 to 2021 he was the undefeated British Champion in the 800m. In 2021, he was selected again for the Tokyo Olympic Games where he came 2nd in the semi-final. He’s had much success in his transition to the 1500m where he represented Team GB at the World Championships in Budapest in 2023. 

Jack Rowe

Event: 5000m 10,000m, Half Marathon & Cross-country

As a student at St Mary’s he represented Team GB at the European Athletics Championships in the 10,000m, as well as European XC U23 Championships in 2017. Jack has represented Team GB numerous times in his running career, most recently he was selected to represent Team GB at the European Championships in Rome over the 5,000m. After that he is targeting the British Championships where he aims to qualify for the Paris Olympics. 

Revée Walcott-Nolan

Event: 800m & 1500m

Revée Walcott-Nolan developed as an athlete at St Mary’s where she had top 10 finishes at British Championships in the 1500m and came fourth in the 800m. She has gone to represent Team GB at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. In 2024 she came sixth at the World Championships and has set her sights on making Team GB for the Paris Olympics in 2024. 

Tom Randolph

Event: 800m

Whilst a member of the St Mary’s EPC Tom was crowned the European U23 bronze medallist in the 800m at the 2021 European U23 Championships held in Estonia. He has raced in many international meets as well as the London Diamond League in 2023. In 2024 he was selected to represent Team GB at the Rome European Championships. 

Izzy Fry

Event: 5000m & Cross-country

Whilst a student athlete at St Mary’s Izzy Fry represented Team GB in many events including European Cross Country Championships, European U20 Championships, European U23 Championships as well as the World University Cross Country Championships where she won gold. Since graduating from St Mary’s she competed as a senior at the European Cross Country Championships where the team won gold. Most recently she competed in the 5000m at the European Athletics Championships in Rome where she ran a PB of 15:05.66.
